The Estate

Saint Ferreol Estate & Vines

You are free to roam the estate and surrounding land, which is ideal for walkers and trekkers who wish to discover the charming local villages; or simply take a leisurely stroll through the surrounding vineyards where there are many secluded areas to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing holiday.
Wildlife is abundant in the parkland and owls have nested here for hundreds of years and are part of the Domaine’s history. Stone statues of eagle owls can be found in the garden, but watch out for the real pair that are currently nesting there and can be frequently heard a little after dusk and at dawn.
A visit to the ancient vaulted wine cellar below the main house is like stepping back in time. The impressive oak barrels for ageing wine are over 12ft high and of a style used in this region for many centuries. You can also visit the Roman well a site that is unique to St. Ferreol.
Take a relaxing stroll down to the river past our ancient watermill that was originally a flour mill for the area and later the source of power for the wine presses. The river Boyne is just a stones throw further and provides great fishing and some tasty trout have been caught and BBQ’d by some of our guests.
